Coober Pedy to Yulara (Uluru’s town)
Woke in Coober Pedy and took the drive
through the Breakaways. The drive took
us to the Dog Fence. From there it
headed through some amazing rock formations.
Brad couldn’t help himself, he had to get a Ford marketing photo.
One of the rock formations was called “Two
Dogs”. It was a white and brown formation which the Aboriginals called the dogs and a pointed formation being the man that looked
after the dogs.
Our original plan was to stay at Agnes
Creek, however as we were there at 1pm and so close to the NT border we wanted
to push on. Hooray!! Northern
Territory!!
We spent the night on on the Lasseter
Highway tucked behind some bushes. We
set up camp and had a nice fire. Because
we pushed on that meant that our drive to Uluru (Ayres Rock, this is what I am
going to call it from now on because that is what I know it as) would be
considerably shorter.
We arrived in Yulara and set up camp fairly
early and walked around town to see what was available. Brad was happy with his purchase of an Akubra. Our campsite is right next to
the lookout and we got a great view of the sunsetting.
